Knowing the importance of continuing her own dance education,
Debbie constantly seeks out daily technique classes at several
colleges in Maryland. In this way, she can keep abreast of all
new teaching techniques in addition to keeping her own talent at
a peak!
Gaining personal recognition has come
in many forms since opening The Hanover School of Ballet in
1984. During 1987, she was chosen by Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, New
York City choreographer, to present his World Premiere Ballet at
Goucher College and was named one of the Outstanding Young Women
of America that same year. Her biographical sketch appeared in
the 1987 edition of Who's Who of Outstanding Young Women of
America. The following season, she had the opportunity to be
one of 25 professionals invited to take a 'master class' with
Vyacheslav Gordeyev and the Moscow Ballet during their USA tour.
With Constant determination and pride,
she has dedicated her time and talent to the developing of the
non-profit performing arm of the school known as The Hanover
Children's Ballet Theatre and Company. Through her guidance,
this young group gained international recognition when they
performed in Eastern Europe during the summer of 1990.
Following the tour Debbie was invited to travel to Bulgaria and
Yugoslavia taking part in conferences concerning "Youth
Performing Abroad" with other Artistic Directors and educators
from around the world. These experiences have opened many new
and exciting doors for the local talented young performers.
